missing letter keys and rabbits

i received my last christmas present (from myself) this morning! i ordered Baroque's missing letter keys and rabbit jsk in early november and was really excited to finally receive it. here's a short little review of my newest dress!

here's the dress out of the box, packed nicely in plastic. as soon as i saw photos of this print i started to save up and wait patiently for reservation to open. i really loved the blue and black colour schemes but decided to go with the black because i really loved the wine coloured pleats. since this is the first time i've ever bought from an indie designer, i understand the quality might not be the same, but i thought i'd compare a few things with the japanese brands i usually buy.

i ordered the jsk in black with the matching headbow. the package also came with two postcards of this print in blue, a small printed towel and since i was one of the first 30 to place an order, fur pompoms with a gold ribbon. there is a zip on the side of the dress like most japanese brand jumperskirts, and the back if half shirred for a comfortable fit. the straps have buttons so they are easily adjustable too. it did lack the little metal clip at the top of the zip to hold it together when zipping, like most brands do, but this is a very minor part and the zip still works fine.

Baroque had changed their their dress design a little from the original style shown in the photoshoot. instead of pleats along the front, they added a removable bow made fro the same print as the dress. this was to avoid copying a brand design and i really respect their brand integrity~ i did really like the wine pleats and was a little disappointed at the change, but i asked them if i could have a plain wine coloured on instead to mimic the prototype. she happily obliged and sent a wine ribbon free of charge with the dress!

here's a picture of the border print up close with the very cute rabbits. the fabric needs a little ironing after it's long trip across the world, but it nothing i can't fix. i know a few girls might have issue with the print matching up on the side, (this dress does not) but i'm not too fussed about that at all. i did notice the pan on the dress is much smaller and can't really accommodate a large amount of puff, but this also suits me quite well! i tried the dress on quickly to make sure if fit (and it does so very comfortably)

one minor issue i found was the print had a bit of a green tinge and the black was not as dark as i had hoped. i couldn't tell if it was the lighting or not and it seems my camera has cancelled the greeness out. i tried to show the different between the colour of the dress compared to the little towel. i think the reddish tinge on the towel looks nicer than the actual colour of the dress.

the headbow was a little flimsy compared to the bows of what you would expect from baby the stars shine bright and angelic pretty. and the shape of the bow wasn't really symmetrical either, but i think i can easily tweak it a little to make it sit better. it's also not attached to the headband, so you can easily move the bow from the middle to the side for a different look.

i didn't have any huge complaints about the dress and i think the price was very decent for a smaller, indie designer brand. compared to the japanese brands i usually buy from, this dress is only lacking in a few aspects. but the print is gorgeous and i really like how the dress sits when worn. it's really comfortable to wear and i can't wait to coordinate my new item~ (i sense an easter outfit coming...)

my items were shipped on time and though i had to ask for the tracking number, i understand that it was shipped during a very busy season. i didn't have many problems with communicating either, they replied back in a timely fashion, and were always quite polite. altogether, i'm happy with my new purchase and i'm looking forward to what Baroque will bring this year too~

  2. Waah it's so pretty! I was thinking about ordering from Baroque but it would be my first time with an indie brand so I was a little bit nervous. And sizing as well.

Can't wait to see some worn pics!

  5. Ohh thank you so much for the review! I do agree that the reddish tinge looks better, but I guess it isn't that noticeable unless you have the towel to compare :P I also reserved and am currently waiting for mine to arrive, I fell madly in love once I saw it and waited religiously for it to come into reservation! :D
