lolita blog carnival: top 3 wishlist items

Hello, hello again! I'm participating in another week of the Lolita Blog Carnival! It's a group of lolita bloggers like me who share their thoughts in a post on the same topic each week. You can join here, and read about other posts at the botton of this one~! The topic of the week was: your top 3 wishlist items!

Everyone knows a lolita always wants more, especially when the brands are introducing new prints every month, our wishlists keep growing and growing. I've already compiled a wishlist here. Luckily, I've been chasing after a lot of my dream dresses for a while, and in the past year I've managed to pick up a few:

Angelic Pretty's Melty Chocolate set in mint, and Baby the Stars Shine Bright's L'oiseau Bleu in brown.

Baby's Alice's Secret Key ribbon JSK in ivory, and Angelic Pretty's Honey Cake special set in ivory.

Angelic Pretty's Royal Chocolate set in brown, and Juliette et Justine's Cadre du Chat JSK.

So what more could I want? Here are my top three items at the moment:
Recently sold on mbok auctions for over 10,000yen, my dream dress is Baby the Stars Shine Bright's Claudia Fairytale Princess onepiece. I regret not paying the original amount on reservation back in 2011. I hope one day I'll own this beautiful one~!

Another dress I'vee seen sell for a lot of money, is Innocent World's Lotta JSK. If I had a choice, I prefer the nordic blue, but with its rarity and current price tag, I'll settle for any colour.

Lastly, this print is relatively new to my wishlist item, since it was released last year for Disney's special 110th Anniversary. I love this Jane Marple Snow White onepiece in white. It's another rare one that I'm sure was only available in Japan. I still hope to get my paws on it one day!

What are your top wishlist items at the moment? Have you aquired any wishlist items recently? To read about some other lolita's lists, check these blogs out:

the hobbit and christmas markets

the hobbit came out at the cinemas today, and since we missed out getting two tickets for the midnight screening, we decided to spend the 12th of the 12th in 3D middle earth. i remember being quite the fan of lord of the rings soi was super excited to see the prequel. and oh, did it deliver! the movie was fantastic! the special 3D effects weren't as engaging, but the movie itself kept my on the edge of my seat, biting my nail wondering what would happen next. and i was so upset it ended so soon. i can't wait for part two!! martin freeman plays such an adorably awkward bilbo, and on a side note: fili and kili are being shipped in my mind~!

outfit post:
green silk ribbon: offbrand
maroon cardigan: h&m
fox scarf: topshop
black skirt: jane marple
over the knee socks: h&m
brown teaparties: secretshop

when we left the cinema we were welcomed by the freezing cold and some lovely christmas markets! we decided to try some vin chaud, which was much better than i thought it'd be, while heading to the bus stop. i think it's making me super sleepy, or that might be because i fell asleep at 4am.

they even had a cute two storey merry-go-round! what i found most entertaining was the segway racing track just the the left of the carrousel! we've been talking about how handy it'd be to have segways everywhere, and there were about 5 or 6 just waiting to be ridden~

and lastly~ the poitiers christmas tree in the centre of the city. it's smaller than the one we usually have in the centre back home, but i think it was a real pine tree, and the decorations are of course, different. with christmas just around the corner, i'm really looking forward to snow! it must be coming soon~  this afternoon, there was still frost on the grass, and some puddles had frozen over!!

lolita blog carnival: my style outside lolita

this week's topic for the lolita blog carnival is: your (fashion) style outside lolita. if you're also an avid lolita blogger, i really do recommend joining the carnival's facebook group and participate in sharing your thoughts on lolita~ i thought i'd show some non-lolita daily outfits along with my thoughts on fashion beyond lolita.

is otome style separate from lolita style? my sister has always been a fan of emily temple cute and i fell in love with this brand too (it must have some how rubbed off on me~) it's easy to wear otome more often than lolita while sharing some elements of the style. admittedly, i don't wear this on a daily basis, but it's a slightly more toned down than lolita style and i think it's the only style outside lolita that i can put a name to!

outfits from spring/summer 2011: for lazy picnics days in the sun

other than otome, i don't really have one single style that i stick to outside of lolita fashion. i love clothes in general, and i really like to experiment with different looks and also try to maximise the use of my clothes by coordinating them differently. one thing is true: i don't like wearing the exact same outfit more than once. i think a piece of clothing is worth the money if i can wear it several ways. value of an item = price per number of wears. i always ask myself while shopping (online and in real shops): "how can i coordinate this item with my current wardrobe?" example: simply changing the top and accessories can change the style from a girly floral outfit to a more vintage look~

outfits from spring/ summer 2011: for dinners and karaoke nights

the other question i ask myself while shopping is "can i coordinate this in lolita outfit?" i also tend to regard my wardrobe as a whole, whereas many other lolitas might keep their lolita wardrobe separate from their 'normal' clothes. (literally and figuratively) personally, my lolita items are well integrated with the rest of my clothes. i will often wear 'non lolita' items with lolita and 'lolita' items in my daily casual wear. most notable examples include: accessories, shoes, bags, socks, blouses, cardigans, outerwear. example: metamorphose socks and handmade sweet accessories adds character to a cute t shirt and shorts outfit and my delicious melty chocolate bag by angelic pretty to sweeten a colourful christmas outfit.

autumn/ winter 2012: cold days spent studying at university

you might also notice i don't like to wear pants (also known as trousers). i do own a few pairs of jeans, but i much prefer short skirts and shorts. i'm not very tall, and i feel even shorter when i wear longer skirts. because of this, i think tights are the most comfortable piece of clothing ever.

summer 2012: paris and poitiers days

when i packed my luggage for my exchange, i couldn't decide what to bring or leave behind. i worried about wearing the same old boring things, but i also only had 23kg total luggage allowance. i also tried to make sure all the clothes could match each other so i could coordinate with the same items in a different outfit. i chose a few base colours (navy, black, brown) and a few colours that would match these base colours (red, green, yellow). nevertheless i still have days when i think to myself: "i want to wear this today," but realise it's back home in australia :(

in my opinion, the most important part of fashion is to add a personal touch to an outfit. even if the outfit is super simple like above, adding a small detail like a cute pastel bowtie can set it apart from what others are wearing, making your coordinate special to you. and that way, you can express your personality or your feelings through your clothes!~

i hope you enjoyed reading a little (i mean, a lot!) about how i feel about fashion and coordinating on a daily basis. i'm sorry my outfits are not super creative or original~ here's a list of the participants of this week's lolita blog carnival topic:

i went shopping yesterday

luckily i didn't buy anything, except a happy meal and a yummy crepe! my goal for the new month is: ahem, no more spending. well, besides paying off a small closetchild order from april, and awaiting a reservation, no more, no more! there's only 31 days, so it won't be too difficult, right? fingers crossed for me, my dears!

i really like my jane marple skirt! i've been looking for a nice black skirt for a long time, and i think i have found the one! although at first i thought it wasn't really what i expected, it's very comfortable and nice~

strawberry milk chocolate

oh look at the detail of my new bag!! actually, i'm more surprised that my phone camera could take such a macro photo. good job mr. phone~ i decided to take it out for a day at university. it was a relatively short day (only two hours) so i didn't have much to carry and i just wanted to parade my new bag about~

i cut myself a front fringe again. although i was certain i would grow it out as a side fringe, and i was doing a good job, but to be honest, it felt a little strange. so, back to how it used to be~

outfit post #76
- pink plastic bow headband from baby the stars shine bright
- sequin bow top
- pink cardigan
- black chiffon skirt from jane marple
- black tights
- black socks (with a simple pattern)
- pink royal chocolate bag from angelic pretty

the waiting is over

i finally received my mbok order from the past two months. i'd been waiting so patiently and yesterday it was so exciting to open the box with the few items i'd managed to win. apart from that, i'd also managed to find some lovely items in the shops. a sale checked skirt (though it's not really visible in the photo) and a beautiful navy coat with a detachable fur collar. my sister managed to find the skirt a week later, further discounted. but i'm reassuring myself by saying they were out of my size. so it's okay. also not visible in the photo, is a very plain black skirt by jane marple i bought off mbok also.

onto my recent purchases (over the past few months...)

ah, how i've waited for thee! when this pink royal chocolate 3way bag was still on the angelic pretty english website i was already determined to buy it but was just biding my time. when i finally decided to buy it, it was already sold out! how i thought i'd lost the chance. but i found a brand new one still fully packaged on mbok and decided fate was calling. this is so cute, i love the chocolate embossing and the versatility of this bag! i cannot wait to use it~

you might have heard me saying my recent obsession with socks. i found a set of 4 brand new socks on mbok for a very good price. the two on the left are from baby the stars shine bright and the two on the right are angelic pretty ones. i'm not entirely sure if these socks match any dresses (i know i don't own any if they do) but they're all very pink and i'm hoping to wear them on casual days as well as cross coordinating~

these are perhaps the most beautiful shoes in the world. i first saw them on tumblr in pink and fell head over heels (pun intended!) with them. a beautiful friend of mine who had the red pair decided to sell the red pair to me since she found them a little uncomfortable. i can't believe my luck! they were my size and they fit perfectly. i love the cute baby the stars shine bright logo on the heel and the soft velour material, but i'll still on the hunt for a pink pair...

here's a little more detail of the navy coat i bought. my sister actually showed this to me the first time it was released but it sold out so, so quickly. luckily the shop restocked and we both couldn't miss it again. so now we'll be able to twin in it! the fur is so soft and removable! so not only can i wear the coat with and without the collar, i can wear the collar on it's own too~ i love versatility in clothes! the style is very cute so i'm sure it'll match some lolita outfits too, now i just have to wait for the cold weather to settle in. it's been raining very heavily the past few days so i'm sure it's not far off~
