alice exhibition and cake

after coming home from europe and having tried the best macarons, croissants, waffles and cupcakes, i was reluctant to go back to the dessert cafes in adelaide because i was afraid it would make me miss the delicious sweets in europe. but yesterday, my sister and i decided to dine at our favourite chocolate place in adelaide - chocolate bean. not much had changed about this quaint little cafe tucked down an alley since the last time i was here, except perhaps a few extra cupcake flavours. my sister and i both got a red velvet cupcake each, which was quite delicious. the colour of the red velvet was, however, too dark and looked much more like a dark chocolate cake. it was freshly baked and the cream was lovely and soft. overall, not completely bad!

after our cake break, we met up with a few other local lolita girls for an alice in wonderland art exhibition opening night. the theme was, you might imagine, alice themed! one of the local girls who owns the indie brand 'we're all mad here' was featuring some work in the exhibition as well, so she invited everyone to drop by. christine (who's partner took this lovely photo of us all) wore sugary bones by 'we're all made here', i wore my alice's secret key by baby the stars shine bright, my sister kairii wore baby's emblem pocket embroidery, emma wore emily temple cute's wonderland flocky onepiece and bethany wore an alice print by emily temple cute as well. the last two girls (who i'm not familar with) wore some offbrand pieces~

onto the exhibition!! there was a huge turn up and in a small cramped space with no air conditioner and upstairs, it was quite hot! but obviously it didn't stop the visitors. many were dressed up as characters from alice in wonderland too~ eden from 'we're all mad here' designed this dress and even made the two-headed flamigo bag - from scratch and all in 6 weeks! i loved the creepy cute style rabbit ears the most though, so cute!~

the walls were covered in alice themed drawings, paintings, prints and little scuptures too. it was amazing to see everyone's interpretation of the much loved, classic children's book. above are some of my favourite works. i love the colour and simplicity of the first and aren't the little colourful bottles on the wall adorable?

i had a lovely time relaxing with my sister and friends after a super long day at uni (and a visit to the family law courts too). surprisingly i managed to spend over 12 hours out without feeling tired - only until i got home did i realise how long the day was!~
