Counting down the days

It's almost the end of 2013, and there are a few things that I'm looking forward to! But perhaps the two most exciting things are: 1, I'll be finishing my last architectural design class - forever! (I'm actually avoiding my last assignment by blogging, haha~) and 2, 24 days until I depart for Germany and the Netherlands :D

As you can imagine, life is getting busy with huge assignments and preparation for my overseas trip. But I did try to enjoy myself a little too! Our lolita community decided to hold a 'Magical Lolita Transformation' day for some new girls who'd perhaps never tried lolita before. So many girls were kind enough to lend some dresses for others to try on. We helped with makeup and hair before taking a snap of their transformation :) I decided I wouldn't transform, and wore my own coordinate: Emily Temple cute's chocolate and ribbon jumperskirt with some Angelic Pretty accessories (beret, socks and bag).

Our community also decided to celebrate a super early Halloween and we held a very spooky little picnic in the Botanical Gardens. It was a super hot day in Spring, so it was hard to dress up. I decided to go for a creepy Snow White zombie. What if she died when she ate the apple, and the 'kiss of life' kept her undead?! I made a nice red ribbon headbow to match my Innocent World's Dward Story Jumperskirt.

The very next day, my sister and I were invited to a community festival celebrating the sisterhood between Salisbury (in Australia) and Mobari (in Japan). I wore a casual lolita outfit with my new bear hoodie and French Cafe by Angelic Pretty. :)

Since receiving my Musee du Chocolat by Angelic Pretty, I was keen to have a twins meet! I knew there were at least two other girls who also bought the print in the community besides my sister and I. And so I hosted a fun twinning meet where we enjoyed yummy burgers and purikura together!

I was so impressed with the Chess Chocolate triplets and Whyteleaf twins! All our dresses matched so well! Chocolate prints, ahoy~ Everyone had such a fun time, and so many passerbys loved our outfits and couldn't resist taking photos of us.

And lastly before I continue with my assignment, I spent a short afternoon enjoying Halloween cupcakes at my favourite cupcakery - BTS. Since it was the last day of teaching at University too, I decided to dress up a little and wore my newest wardrobe addition: Emily Temple cute's Chocolatier Bunny. It's so cute and comfortable. I love the pinkish red~

I hope you all enjoyed a scary Halloween! Next year, I hope to have some time to go trick or treating again, it's so much fun :) My little sister did! She was dressed as a zombie girl in a seifuku. I did her makeup and she looked so scaryyy XD What do you think?

And before I leave, here's a few photos of some super super casual outfit I wore to university that I thought I'd share~ My juju maxi shoes are so comfy and I think they look so cute with funny socks like my America ones on the left. My brother hates them with socks though, haha~ :P

Lolita is my life

Ah no! I'm becoming slack with my blog posts! I'm so sorry, but this semester has been really tough on me which gives me less time to do the things I like doing, for instance, blogging :( I think I'll just be doing large catch up posts for a while, I hope you won't mind. I must admit I am much, much more active on instagram and tumblr just because they're easier to use especially on the go! So please follow me there <3>
We had a really bigg lolita/anime/manga swap meet a while ago. I didn't manage to sell any lolita dresses there, but it was a good chance to meet up with the girls and chat about our money woes, new wishlist dresses and so on. I wore my new Melty Royal Chocolate from Angelic Pretty. It's the perfect fit, and the style is so flattering! I really love this dress so much~!

More recently, we bid farewell to a beautiful lolita girl in our community. She's jetsetting home to Malaysia after working in Adelaide for several years. I wore Toy March from Angelic Pretty, it's soo pretty! But I recently sold the JSK and socks set since I just won the set in navy - my preferred colourway~

I went out shopping with my sister and a friend. Though I didn't buy anything it was great to take a look in the shops and spend some time together. I didn't wear lolita, but I really liked my outfit anyway!! The beret is however from Angelic Pretty's Toy March collection :D We had yummy pizza and desserts after too <3 br="">
My sister and I were asked to do a japanese fashion presentation at University for some high school students. It was to promote the Language faculty. I wore a complete (almost) outfit by Baby the Stars Shine Bright. Chocolate Fascinate Fantasy JSK with Hexenhaus socks and my favourite cookie headbow! It was also the first time I took Usakumya out too, she had a loong and tiring day!!
I also organised a surprise graduation party for my sister! She's finally finished studying at University, so we celebrated with some yummy Korean food and karaoke times with some other lolita girls. I wore Emily Temple Cute's Wrapping Macaron <3 p="">

Here's an extra picture of my cutie sister who looks SO much younger than me! Haha~

And most recently!! I was introduced to this very lovely little cafe by some lolita friends. They had the loveliest scones and most delicious chocolate mud cake I have had in a while! I wore my new Drained Cherry skirt from Angelic Prettyy~ It's made of the nicest chiffon, I'm so happy I managed to find it second hand.

And lastly, thing's I've bought recently and it's, erm... quite a list:

Angelic Pretty Toy March set in navy
Angelic Pretty Musee du Chocolat set in ivory

lolita blog carnival: dessert outfit

I haven't participated in a lolita blog carnival topic for a while! But this week's topic: create an outfit based on a dessert, really sparked my interest. I have the biggest sweet tooth. Ever. And I have plenty of printed dresses that are dessert and sweet based! My only problem was choosing only one dessert to base the coordinate on!

In the end, I decided to base my coordinate on very unique cake that I actually had the chance of trying when I was in Paris last year. Invented by the maison Dalloyau established in Paris in 1682, this cake is called 'Echiquier', meaning 'chessboard' in french. No need to wonder why~ Created in 1993, the cake is described as:

'Un petit gâteau ludique et moelleux aux trois chocolats et aux pions en chocolat. Biscuit aux amandes, génoise au chocolat parfumée à la gousse de vanille Bourbon de Madagascar, déclinaison de trois chocolats : chocolat noir 64% cacao - origine Equateur en chantilly, chocolat blanc et chocolat lait 40% cacao en mousse.'

'A small, fun and soft cake with three chocolates and chocolate chess pieces. Almond biscuit, chocolate sponge cake flavoured with Bourbon vanilla beans from Madagascar, variations of three chocolates: 64% cocoa whipped dark chocolate from Ecuador, white chocolate, and 40% cocoa milk chocolate mousse.'

It was both beautiful and delicious! I had a small individual cake, with a cute little pawn made of white chocolate. Actually, I almost didn't want to eat it because it looked so pretty!! You can see the larger version of the 'Echiquier' in the background of the above photo~! They have lots of beautiful cakes. If you are ever visiting the Pantheon in Paris, you'll find Dalloyau nearby: 2, place Edmond Rostand - 75006 Paris. They have many other shops around Paris, and even in Tokyo, Seoul, Dubai and Doha~!

So how did the 'Echiquier' inspire my lolita outfit? (I think you can guess) Angelic Pretty's Chess Chocolate, of course! I coordinated this beautiful print with a white blouse, royal chocolate socks and a hint of gold to reflect the little 'Dalloyau' label on the cake. I tried not to add too many accessories because the print itself was perfect enough on it's own, don't you think? And since we're going with the chess theme, I added a few geeky touches (middle part and oversized frames), heehee!

Outfit rundown:
- Blouse, JSK, socks, bag: Angelic Pretty
- Shoes: Secret Shop
- Headbow: handmade by me
- Glitter hairclip: 6%dokidoki

I apologise for the super terrible lighting and my lack of makeup. It's getting really cold and dark with winter in full swing. My room is the darkest, and has the world's worst lighting. Sorrryy! I'll admit I was feeling pretty lazy when I took the photos, so they are not very good at all, haha!!

weekend swap meet

We had a lolita swap meet over the weekend and even though I had a super busy schedule, I took out some time to see the lovely local girls and try to sell some of my dresses. I discovered my wardrobe houses about 25 dresses and skirts and some of them are hardly ever worn, so I'm looking for a new home for them. I also took the opportunity to dress up and doll up since I'd been stuck home for most of the 2 week uni break. My sister and I love taking selfies together, heehee~!

The week earlier, I received the Fantastic Dolly JSK from Angelic Pretty! I managed to win it at a very good price on Mbok. Although when it was first released my preferred colour was lavender, I decided to buy the black one since it cheap and cute~! Do you like my new wig? It's actually really thin and cheap but i still love the cute style and colour.

alice exhibition and cake

after coming home from europe and having tried the best macarons, croissants, waffles and cupcakes, i was reluctant to go back to the dessert cafes in adelaide because i was afraid it would make me miss the delicious sweets in europe. but yesterday, my sister and i decided to dine at our favourite chocolate place in adelaide - chocolate bean. not much had changed about this quaint little cafe tucked down an alley since the last time i was here, except perhaps a few extra cupcake flavours. my sister and i both got a red velvet cupcake each, which was quite delicious. the colour of the red velvet was, however, too dark and looked much more like a dark chocolate cake. it was freshly baked and the cream was lovely and soft. overall, not completely bad!

after our cake break, we met up with a few other local lolita girls for an alice in wonderland art exhibition opening night. the theme was, you might imagine, alice themed! one of the local girls who owns the indie brand 'we're all mad here' was featuring some work in the exhibition as well, so she invited everyone to drop by. christine (who's partner took this lovely photo of us all) wore sugary bones by 'we're all made here', i wore my alice's secret key by baby the stars shine bright, my sister kairii wore baby's emblem pocket embroidery, emma wore emily temple cute's wonderland flocky onepiece and bethany wore an alice print by emily temple cute as well. the last two girls (who i'm not familar with) wore some offbrand pieces~

gold bow hair ties: handmade by me
alice's secret key jsk: baby the stars shine bright
cardigan: offbrand
polka dot tights: offbrand
teaparty shoes: secret shop

onto the exhibition!! there was a huge turn up and in a small cramped space with no air conditioner and upstairs, it was quite hot! but obviously it didn't stop the visitors. many were dressed up as characters from alice in wonderland too~ eden from 'we're all mad here' designed this dress and even made the two-headed flamigo bag - from scratch and all in 6 weeks! i loved the creepy cute style rabbit ears the most though, so cute!~

the walls were covered in alice themed drawings, paintings, prints and little scuptures too. it was amazing to see everyone's interpretation of the much loved, classic children's book. above are some of my favourite works. i love the colour and simplicity of the first and aren't the little colourful bottles on the wall adorable?

i had a lovely time relaxing with my sister and friends after a super long day at uni (and a visit to the family law courts too). surprisingly i managed to spend over 12 hours out without feeling tired - only until i got home did i realise how long the day was!~
