yum cha
yum cha literally means 'drink tea' in chinese and i equate it to the chinese version of high tea. small serves of delicious foods taken with chinese tea. my sister and brother and i tookour the neighbours (who are also friends of my sister) to experience yum cha. it was so busy on the sunday it was lucky we made a reservation earlier!
the local anime and game convention is on in two weeks and i'll be having a stall along artist alley. off i go making more garlands~ they seem to be well loved which makes me super happy~ as well as crafting, i'd really like to start commissioning sketches and lolita drawings too. how i wish i had better photoshop skills...

the cry of a mermaid
after buying two of my rose wreaths, one of the local lolitas commissioned me to make a mermaid princess rose garland to coordinate with her angelic pretty aqua princess jsk. i was thrilled to help her, and immediately began sketching the plans for a crown fit for a mermaid princess.
her dress was the purple and black colourway and she wanted a tinge of gold added so out i went searching for the necessary pieces. i ended up buying white roses and dyeing them purple since i couldn't find a purple that matched the dress. i used to collect seashells when i was young and this was my favourite shape, so when i managed to get my hands on one in a home decorating store i knew it would be perfect for this headpiece! i painted it gold to match the theme and with some strings of pearls, i hope it'll match her coordinate~ there are more work in progress pictures up on moripop!
ps: happy bastille day, dears~!

sparkly peachie goodies (for you!)
ps: readers, you'll find i have a little surprise for you all at the end of the post~
i wanted to review some of the cute accessories my very talented friend makes that you may have already seen in my outfit posts. sparkle peach is run by the very adorable lauren who makes adorable sweet accessories, nail art and decorated iphone cases for sweet lolitas as well as cute accessory loving girls. her goodies are perfect for decorating especially for deco-lolita or sweet lolita. i love wearing a piece of two even on a super casual day to uni, just to brighten my day~
fluffy star 2way brooch. this brooch is so soft and goes well with spank or pop style as well as deco-lolita. you can even wear it in your hair too~ they match my sweet converses too! heehee~ currently there are some fluffly rainbows similar to this star on her storenvy.
this is my favourite necklace from sparkle peach~ she custom made me a nickname necklace. it's an acrylic laser cut with a cute heart on it. i love wearing this on a black blouse and making it stand out~ she's been making plenty of geeky acrylic cuts with words like 'otaku' and 'kawaii' which have been selling out faster than she can put them online so check her facebook for the most up to date updates.
i'm not usually one who likes super decorated nails, but she let me try these on. these are the most colourful, sugarcoated darlings. i love them so much and didn't want to take them off~ she's willing to take custom make orders too so check her facebook for designs and to place your order.
you'll find lots of sparkle peach goodies down the artist alley along with moripop and hologram.world. we'll be a super bright and colourful stall that you can't miss, so do stop by and see all the new merchandise sparkle peach (and co.) will have. i've seen some more cute previews of more geek necklaces, tons of sparkly starry bracelets and cookie brooches to come. what do you think? aren't they all so sweet? check out her facebook page for more sweet goodies, and don't forget to like it too~
and to all my sweet readers, there's a little something special for you too~ simply follow my blog , and you'll get a lovely free gift in you next purchase on sparkle peach's storenvy or facebook page~
just leave a note when upon checking out letting her know you're a 2tspofsugar and sparkle peach follower to claim your peachy gift!~ this applies to international readers too~ (ends 31st August 2012)

flowers are for spring
how good it feels to have finally finished all my exams! it's funny to think that half a year of work is judged by the 3 hours i spend, head down furiously writing in a room with a hundred other people. now i've got plenty of time for myself, and it's time to get arty and crafty~ i'll be taking a small corner of my friend's table at the upcoming anime convention and hopefully it won't be bare...

here's a project i worked on a couple of months ago... i couldn't resist buying all the pretty roses i could find. these are made really thin foam (i think!) and feel really soft and velvety. i decided to make some floral head wear for myself with these delicate flowers.
in the end, i got carried away and made five of these red and pink ones and three with the peach and lilac coloured roses. my sister loved them so much she took one of each and we used one as a gift for the moripop tea party event in april~ i took the last four wreaths to the recent local swap meet, and they were bought even before everyone had arrived!! i was so surprised, so now i'll be scouting out for some more flowers, maybe i'll use peonies or daisies~

crafty days
over the weekend, i went to my friend's house for a day of crafting. or rather a day of tea and scones in front of a sewing machine. we didn't manage to make anything substantial but we sure had a good time talking about our craft projects, new prints from baby the stars shine bright, recent purchases and the quality of those yummy scones! we successfully finished one barrette (like the sugary carnival one pictured) out of some pink candy treat fabric she managed to find online. it looked super cute!
after missing out on the reservation of alice and the pirate's treasure in the mystic island print, my friend decided to buy the very cute shy bear pouch and pony bag from angelic pretty. aren't they adorable? shy bear is having a lovely pony ride!~
we spent a lot of time wondering why the sewing machine wasn't working and drinking tea. i tried an apple tea which was really nicely scented and tasted very sweet! she'd picked up many sets of lolita teacups and saucers on her most recent trip to japan. they are so cute! this metamorphose one makes a cute heart shape~
on the topic of crafting, i did make this gothic lolita inspired deer/rose brooch out of some left over materials from other craft projects. the day after i photographed this, i shortened the longer lace at the bottom and i think it looks nicer now~ what do you think of it? i wonder what i'll wear it with...

the sheep
come out to play.
the moment we have been waiting for: avcon is here!
how i have waited patiently for this day, ordering the
respective pieces and altering the straw hat to wear my cute
angelic pretty sheep garden coordinate!
a simple country lolita style, right?
my cute friend is all deco-ed in sweet angelic pretty milky chan~
someone even thought we were twins!

my sister and our other lolita friends had a table in the
artist alley together! it was so much fun meeting new people
and selling the things we have spent hours making~
though we didn't take many photos because we were so busy,
we all had such good fun, i was super tired but so happy!

sweatshopping
look how busy i've been! bows, bows, and more bows~
and there's no way to get something done without something sweet!
to take my mind off the many packages of lolita goodness
i am patiently waiting for, i've been spending time working on
things to sell at avcon. there's just the postcards to polish up.
it's so exciting to prepare for the convention every year.
this year in particular because my sister and i are setting
up a small stall with some lolita friends.
i hope there will be plenty of custom~
it's terribly difficult waiting for packages to arrive,
but there is only one cause. myself.
even though i promised i wouldn't spend any more money
i've landed myself with another dress set. oh dear!
it's all worth it, right?
