once a year, every year

Last weekend was the weekend we'd all been waiting a long time for - Avcon! That's the anime and game convention in Adelaide. Although it has a very strong lolita culture too. Some friends from Melbourne came to visit us since they had a stall down the Artist Alley. My sister and I usually have one too, but we took a break from that this year. On the Friday, we met up with the girls from Melbourne to eat yummy burgers! I had the delicious crispy bacon and cheese burger again, it's the best! After lunch, we headed to the convention centre for set up and to grab  our tickets.

Later that evening, we all went out for Japanese food at a cute little restaurant called Matsuri. I ordered the Tonkatsu and shared it with my sister who ordered Teriyaki chicken. Yum!

Once we'd all separated to get some early night's rest, I decided to take some outfit photos! It had been so busy, I almost forgot! I wore Emily Temple cute's Vintage Market one piece with the cute polka dot socks from Baby the Stars Shine Bright.

On the Saturday I decided to wear something super casual and easy to change out of because I knew I'd be in the Maid's Cafe. I've been volunteering as a maid there since it started, and even though it's a lot of work, it's super enjoyable! I love my new Candy Stripper jacket, it's so warm! I really wanted to wear my Angelic Pretty Royal Chocolate dress, but thought it probably wasn't worth it since I'd be in my maid costume most of the time.

All the maids (and butlers) were really lovely and adorable this year! I worked with mostly the same people on both days, and we all had so much fun!! The costume (which I borrowed) is adorable too, don't you think?

On the last day of the convention, I wore my beautiful dream dress - Cadre du Chat by Juliette et Justine. I tried to add some cult party kei elements like the overdress, tights and makeup. It's my first time trying this style, and wearing the dress, I was really excited to wear it. For the first time, I decided to enter the Lolita Parade competition. And I was so, so super nervous! All the girls looked gorgeous in their dresses, and I was sure I'd trip on stage. But it all went smoothly, and I even ended up winning first prize for best coordinate!

Outfit Rundown:
- dress: Juliette et Justine
- lace collar, overdress, headpiece, necklace: handmade by me
- shoes: Baby the Stars Shine Bright
- bag: Muchacha
- tights, gloves, accessories: offbrand

I have to thank my two lovely sisters, Kairii for helping with the pattern for the overdress, and Nikii for taking all the photos of my outfit and supporting me on the day. They were really the best to me, and I know I wouldn't have won without them. I felt so luckyy~!

With the prize money ($100 at One Day in Paradise) I bought some cute accessories and a pretty letter set from Baby the Stars Shine Bright, and some 6%DokiDoki hairclips. I also bought a big 6%DokiDoki glitter bow for my sister as a thank you gift. And since my lovely friends were down for the weekend, they gifted me a brooch and cute necklaces for my super belated birthday!!

I had a wonderful weekend, though I was so tired as well. I didn't manage to take that many photos, but I did try out my super adorable rilakkuma instax camera! It's really good for taking selfies, so here's a few from the weekend~!

where have you been?

Hello, hello! I must apologise once again for the lack of posts, but I have been super busy. Not only with my architecture course, but I've also been doing lots of interesting things recently. This is another catch up post with what I've been doing in the past month or so since my last post. PS, watch out for a super, super loooong post!!

First off, my good friends and I decided to visit the Barossa Valley. Have you ever heard of it? It's very famous for wine, and it's about an hour and a half drive from Adelaide. We booked a mini bus, and toured around some of the famous wineries tasting their best wines. We stopped by at Peter Lehman's for a very delicious and casual lunch, before continuing our tour. We went home, tired (and a little tipsy) with a few bottles each.

Next up was a small lolita meet I hosted to raise money for 'Australia's Biggest Morning Tea'. We enjoyed a little tea party in the Botanic Gardens with lots of food, my sister's home brewed tea, and lots of fun. We raised over $250 for the Cancer Council, and I was so touched by everyone's generosity~ I didn't manage to take many photos as I was rushing about, but here are my outfit photos from the day.

Outfit rundown:
Chocolate beret: handmade by a lovely friend, Emma
Gold bow hairclip: 6%dokidoki
Blouse: Baby the stars shine bright
Honey cake jsk: Angelic Pretty
Cardigan: Taobao
Chocolate socks: Emily temple cute
Teaparty shoes: Secret shop
Biscuit bag: Baby the stars shine bright

My sister and I were really excited to watch 'The Great Gatsby', so when it opened in the cinema, we decided to see it right after a day at uni. It was a lovely film, in a very over the top style and it didn't deviate too far from the original book by F. Scott Fitgerald. I really enjoyed it~!!

I've also been doing some serious fooding! First off, is Fancy Burger, tucked away down Synagogue Place in the city. My sister and I visited it twice this week (once more with my brother).  I had the 'crispy bacon and cheese', and the 'hot spicy'; both burgers were with Angus beef and were absolutely delicious. Their chips were pretty tasty too!!

As for desserts, I visited the chocolatier Steven ter Horst on Unley Road, which is famous for their Belgian chocolate. I tried the 'nuts for chocolate' cake (layer of chocolate cream, ganache, biscuit, and chocolate with nuts - yum!) and the hot chocolate with fruit de bois. Admittedly this wasn't as great as the chocolate salons in Paris or Brussels, but it'll do for now!

And let's not forget my latest favourite place: St. Louis house of fine icecream and dessert. I had the 'churros martini' with salted caramel icecream, and delicious apple caramel sauce. The churros weren't made great this time, as they crumbled at my fingertips. I gave it a week's break, but couldn't resist trying their icecream again!!

The last thing I want to share is Law Balll!! The university (Law student society) organises an annual Law Ball, and my friend and I decided we'd finally attend one of them to see what the fuss was all about. We managed to find some tickets luckily from a friend of a friend. It's a really popular event that sells out within days. The event was held at the Stamford Grand in Glenelg, so we decided to book us a hotel room as well, to get ready and crash at the end of the night! We had some beautiful views of the beach and the jetty too. We enjoyed some delicious pizza (pumpkin with fetta cheese - best!!) at a restaurant nearby before putting on our prettiest dresses, highest heels, making up our faces, and heading down to the ball. Aside from the unlimited drinks and finger food, the best part of the night was the photobooth machines, which we made good use of!! We had a little bit (a lott!) of fun that night~~

The next few weeks will be even more busy with my last architecture project for the semester (worth 40%, eek!) and exams. But once that's all over, I promise to make a post about my 'latest' haul. Yes. It will be a lovely, big haul from over several months including all the lolita items, birthday gifts and taobao-ing. I'm excited too. Here's a sneak peek, with some Uniqlo tshirts I ordered. I couldn't resist getting a few Disney collaboration ones along with the much needed Laduree ones!!

Until then, keep safe! x

weekend swap meet

We had a lolita swap meet over the weekend and even though I had a super busy schedule, I took out some time to see the lovely local girls and try to sell some of my dresses. I discovered my wardrobe houses about 25 dresses and skirts and some of them are hardly ever worn, so I'm looking for a new home for them. I also took the opportunity to dress up and doll up since I'd been stuck home for most of the 2 week uni break. My sister and I love taking selfies together, heehee~!

The week earlier, I received the Fantastic Dolly JSK from Angelic Pretty! I managed to win it at a very good price on Mbok. Although when it was first released my preferred colour was lavender, I decided to buy the black one since it cheap and cute~! Do you like my new wig? It's actually really thin and cheap but i still love the cute style and colour.

happy bunny days

sorry, i have no idea what i am doing here!!
did you have a fun easter holiday weekend? today the local lolitas organised an easter egg hunt. unfortunately, the weather was not on our side, and it started to pour down with rain!! and just when everyone arrived in the garden too. so a group of roughly 30 lolitas were huddled under parasols and umbrellas for a good 10 minutes. in the end, we quickly grabbed as many chocolate eggs as we could find and headed to the lovely christine's house to dry off, split the chocolate eggs and gifts and have a little chat over some food. so i guess all's well that ends well!

my sister and i dresses as the easter bunnies since we decided not to participate in the hunting. instead, we helped scatter and hide the eggs for everyone else. i think we did a pretty good job¬! i made matching lace rabbit ears in black and white for us. although the white ones didn't show up so well in the photos~

here is my sister kairii's adorable pastel outfit for easter. she wore angelic pretty's happy garden with her cute lyrical bunny bag. she also handmade a very lovely chiffon dress/apron she wore over her dress, which looked so amazing! she was complimented on it all day~!!

and here is my outfit. (yes, these are the same photos as my previous post! there are more details in it though) it was the first time i wore baroque's missing letter key and rabbits jumperskirt. i matched it with my newest bronze coloured emily temple cute style replica shoes and the cute biscuit bag from baby the stars shine bright. i love the bag, but it's too small. i'm going to need the larger one...
